About this temple
Dwaraka Tirumala, widely called Chinna Tirupati, is a Venkateswara pilgrimage near Eluru. The sanctuary’s two principal images are an important distinction from Tirumala itself.
History
The temple’s identity combines the remembered discovery by the sage with subsequent patronage and expansion. The devotional discovery story alone does not establish the date of the present gopurams or halls.
Legends & Religious Traditions
The sage Dwaraka is said to have performed prolonged penance and discovered the self-manifest image. His name belongs to the shrine’s local origin account; the temple is not in the Gujarat city of Dwarka.
Architecture / Physical Features
The sculpted entrance gopuram and hill precinct frame the approach. The credited photograph shows the main gateway.
Rituals, Worship and Seva
Worship is directed to Venkateswara in the sanctum containing two images. Sevas and darshan arrangements should be obtained from the Dwaraka Tirumala administration rather than copied from Tirumala’s booking system.
Festivals and Religious Significance
Brahmotsavam begins with Garuda flag-hoisting, an invitation to the deities, and continues through the temple’s scheduled ceremonial programme.
How to Reach
Travel by road from Eluru towards Dwaraka Tirumala, then follow the local hill-temple approach.
Contradictory Accounts and Variations
Chinna Tirupati is an honorific pilgrimage comparison, not another name for Tirumala in Tirupati district. Older sources and image captions say West Godavari; this entry follows the map’s Eluru district boundary.
