About this temple
Ballaleshwar at Pali is the Ashtavinayak shrine named for the devotee Ballal. It lies in Sudhagad taluka of Raigad district, near Sarasgad and the Amba river. Dhundi Vinayak is a distinct associated shrine visited in the local worship sequence.
History
Raigad district attributes an important temple phase to Moreshvar Vitthal Sindkar in 1640. Maharashtra Tourism describes a later stone rebuilding under Phadnis in 1760, following an earlier wooden shrine. These may describe different phases; they are not one agreed foundation date.
Legends & Religious Traditions
Ballal’s devotion to Ganesha brings him into conflict with his father. Ganesha appears in an ascetic’s form, releases the boy and agrees to remain at Pali as Ballaleshwar. The story gives the temple its devotee-derived name.
Architecture / Physical Features
State tourism describes two tanks, a paved courtyard, an inner and outer sanctuary and a hall supported by eight carved pillars.
Rituals, Worship and Seva
The Devasthan lists personal worship in the inner sanctum from 5:30 AM to noon under the prescribed ritual dress and priestly arrangements. Its abhishek scheme uses separate service periods; participation is not automatically included in ordinary darshan.
Nearby Religious Places
Dhundi Vinayak is associated with the Ballal story. Varadvinayak at Mahad near Khalapur is another Ashtavinayak temple in Raigad, requiring a separate road journey.

Contradictory Accounts and Variations
The district gives 1640 and the state tourism account highlights 1760 rebuilding. These are attributed construction histories rather than silently selecting one year. Pali in Raigad is distinct from Pali in Rajasthan.
